Socialist Voice has reviewed The Global Fight for Climate Justice under the very appropriate headline “Red is the New Green.” Reviewer Jeff White writes:
“Canadian ecosocialist activist/writer Ian Angus has done a fine job of selecting and presenting the contents of this anthology, as well as writing and translating several of the items himself. He combines current and historical material from around the world, both theoretical and practical, and all of it is highly readable. The book fills a real need in the small but growing corpus of ecosocialist literature in English, by taking anticapitalist environmentalism out of academia and into the streets.”
Ian, I think you did an outstanding job with this book.
Regular readers of Climate and Capitalism will recognize some of the material: particularly outstanding was your stuff on the Myth of the Tragedy of the Commons, which is destined to be a classic critique of Garett Hardin. Already it is one of the most popular articles on this website, as you have noted previously.
But the book has lots of original material that appears in paper-print and/or English for the first time. It was a pleasure to read and review.
Congratulations to you.
