I thought about it a bit more and I do agree that Canadians are corrupt, if you define corruption as the receipt of benefits in exchange for the abrogation of a duty. Many Canadians are willing to accept simple material benefits (cheap gasoline, cheap personal products) in exchange for looking the other way while the elites wreck the environment and reproduce their capital. Some personal shame would be a good first step to a change...

You all know that George favors nuclear energy, considers it one of the important ways to decarbonize the planet.

I don't see any evidence of a capitulation of greed. Fear temporarily has the upper hand...

Thank you George for pointing out the ultimate bankcruptcy and criminality of our elected leaders here in the US. There are only two good things about the current US led global financial deconstruction;
1) It happened while George Bush was still in office.
2) This final capitulation of greed in the financial markets will provide the opportunity to move to a steady state economy.

I'm tempted to agree that many Canadians are stupid and corrupt but my real opinion is that they are living a middle-class lifestyle that is ethically bankrupt. In my experience, most Canadians can't imagine an alternative to the materialistic middle-class lifestyle or are socially unable to abandon it.

If you abandon the car/house/possessions/vacations lifestyle, you instantly become a social outcast or - even worse - a loser. That simply doesn't appeal to middle-class people.
